Emily Wilcox ~ Counselor, Last names A-Cl  

eewilco@carrollk12.org

Ms. Wilcox earned her BA in Psychology from Gettysburg College in 2018 and will receive her MS in Counselor Education from McDaniel College in May 2022.  Prior to coming to MVHS, Ms. Wilcox served as a College and Career Advisor at Waynesboro Area Senior High School in Waynesboro, PA and a school counseling intern at Westminster High School.

Mary Susan Cunningham ~ Counselor, Last names Cm-G

Ms. Cunningham earned her BS in Social Science from Frostburg State University and her MS in Counselor Education from McDaniel College.  Prior to becoming a School Counselor in 2002, she worked as a Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist for the Division of Rehabilitation Services. Ms. Cunningham came to MVHS from the North Carroll High School Counseling Department.

 Carie Reese ~ Counselor-Co-Department Chair, Last names H-Me

Mrs. Reese is the Department Chair for the MVHS School Counseling Department.  She received both her BA in Psychology and an MS in School Counseling from McDaniel College.  Prior to joining MVHS, she worked as a School Counselor at Liberty High School.

Miranda Ferrante ~ Counselor, Last names Mf-Sf

Mrs. Ferrante earned her BS in Sociology and Anthropology from Towson University. She recently earned her MS in School Counseling from Walden University. Mrs. Ferrante previously worked at Manchester Valley High School as the permanent substitute teacher while working on her Master’s Degree. Prior to that she was a stay-at-home mom.

Mrs. Nappier earned her BS in Psychology from Towson University and her MS in Counselor Education from McDaniel College.  Mrs. Nappier came to us from Liberty High School where she was a counselor for 7 years.  Prior to that, she worked at FSK as a Career Coordinator and Instructional Assistant in Special Education.

 Amy Cain ~ Facilitator of Student Support

Mrs. Cain received her BS degree in Public Administration from Shippensburg University and her MS in School Counseling from McDaniel College.  She has worked at the elementary and high school levels in Carroll County Public Schools for a total of 13 years.  Prior to joining the school system, she spent 13 years as a Case Manager for Carroll County Department of Social Services.

Mrs. Shelly Brezicki ~ Career Connections Coordinator

Mrs. Brezicki received her Bachelors degree from Towson University, her Masters degrees from Towson and Johns Hopkins University, and her Administrator Certification from McDaniel College. She taught health and physical education for 18 years before accepting the position of Career Coordinator. Mrs. Brezicki is also the girls varsity lacrosse coach at Manchester Valley High School.

 Mission

Carroll County Public School Counselors facilitate the academic, career, and personal/social development of all students.  School Counselors are integral members of the instructional team. They directly impact student achievement by delivering comprehensive services that meet the needs of the 21st Century school community.

 


 

Vision

Professional School Counselors are uniquely trained leaders who promote success for all students.  They collaborate with school stakeholders using data-driven decisions to facilitate the success of the 21st Century learner in an ever-changing society.


As a result the student will:

  • Achieve to his/her maximum potential

  • Demonstrate academic, career and personal/social problem-solving skills

  • Recognize and appreciate individual and cultural differences

  • Develop communication, citizenship and employability skills to make positive

  • contributions to the community
