Special Education Citizens Advisory Committee (SECAC)

The Carroll County SECAC is a committee established by Carroll County Public Schools to seek meaningful input from parents, community partners, service providers, educators, and administrators on local issues about the achievement of students with disabilities.  This collaboration enables the director of special education to make positive changes in the delivery of special education services.  If you have concerns and desire to bring about positive change please consider becoming an active member in this constructive process.  For information on meetings, see below. 

The October meeting of the 2020-2021 school year will be a Virtual Town Hall with Nick Shockney, Director of Special Education for Carroll County Public Schools  on October 21, 2020 from 6:00pm-7:00pm.  As we anticipate the transition to the hybrid model, we would like to have Nick Shockney sit down with us and answer some questions about service delivery.  It could include how service is delivered, specialized instruction, and tools that may help students.  This meeting will be hosted in a virtual format and questions will be collected ahead of time.  If there is additional time, we will take questions from the attendees, limiting to one question per attendee.  We will ask that attendees refrain from asking or commenting about specific schools, teachers, or students.  The Executive Board will monitor the meeting to ensure a productive conversation.

 

This meeting will be using the google meet format and a link will be sent 24 hours prior to the meeting with the list of presubmitted questions for your reference (Questions may be edited for clarity or redundancy).  A Q&A document will be available after the meeting for reference for those who are unable to attend.  The link to the October 21, 2020 Virtual Town Hall is below.  Hope you can join us!
